ABOUT

Mark Joseph Oliver earned his BFA in Sculpture from the University of South Florida and his MFA in Sculpture from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland.   In the years since he has worked as an arts professor, professional fabricator and installation artist, and designer and woodworker for large custom projects. Mark’s work is inspired by memory and natural phenomena and examines the relationships of humans and land through the exploration of extreme weather, suburbia, and environment.  He currently lives and works in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina and is the co-owner and operator of Foundation Woodworks, an art gallery and communal woodworking shop in the heart of Asheville’s historic River Arts District.
